About the role and why it matters
The Western Manitoba Women’s Centre is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Financial Administrator to join our non-profit organization. Every program, counseling session, and community event at the Women’s Centre runs on a foundation of sound finances. This role is pivotal in supporting the financial and administrative operations that advance our mission of empowering women and supporting survivors of gender-based violence in our community.
Reporting to the Director of Operations & Development, the Financial Administrator is responsible for overseeing financial processes, maintaining accurate financial records, supporting budgeting, and reporting activities, and contributing to the administrative efficiency of the organization.

What You’ll Do
Keep the books in order:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including accounts payable and receivable, general ledger entries, and bank reconciliations.
- Enter data and run reports in bookkeeping software (e.g. QuickBooks online).
- Manage payroll processing and benefits administration in coordination with external providers.
- Make sure our financial practices align with internal policies and applicable regulations.
Tell our financial story
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports with the Director of Operations & Development and Board Treasurer.
- Assist with preparing budgets, forecasts, and financial plans, and provide monthly reporting for board meetings.
- Reconcile grant and donor funding allocations and track spending accordingly.
- Prepare documentation for audits, grant reporting, and annual filings.
Keep the Centre running smoothly
- Support day-to-day administration, including scheduling, records management, and preparing organizational documents.
- Coordinate office operations, from supplies management to liaising with service providers.
- Support event budgeting and reconcile finances after events and programs.
- Collaborate with colleagues across the organization and uphold our values and mission in every financial and administrative decision.
What you bring
- Education: A diploma or degree in accounting, finance, or business administration preferred; equivalent experience considered.
- Experience: At least 2 years in financial administration or bookkeeping, preferably in a non-profit setting.
- Tools & know-how: Proficiency in QuickBooks (or similar) and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook), plus knowledge of budgeting, financial reporting, and audit processes.
- Working style: Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with a sharp eye for detail.
- Self-direction: Ability to work independently, maintain confidentiality, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
- Heart for the mission: An understanding of women’s issues and gender-based violence, and the ability to work with diverse populations within a feminist framework.
Good to know
- Permanent, full-time, office-based position (37.5 hours/week).
- Some flexibility is needed for occasional evening or weekends for events or meetings.
